Uh-Oh, We've got a Ham on our Hands!

Justin here....I took a video of Will at his happiest - right after eating! I apologize in advance for my "baby voice"....I dare you to try talking to him without doing something similar. :-)

Two Weeks!

Will had his two week doctor's appointment yesterday, and aside from forgetting to bring his paperwork (and having to go back today), everything went well!

I know it sounds cliche, but our little boy is growing so fast... No, really! He's growing FAST! He's grown an inch and has already gained a pound. The pediatrician says that kind of weight gain is unusual for a two week-old. Apparently newborns tend to lose weight the first 1-2 weeks, but not our Will! He's an eater (like his mom)!

Pete Moskowitz, Will's pediatrician

This is how the conversation went down with the pediatrician

Dr: Wow, a 15 oz weight gain! Looks like you got an eater on your hands!
(Right after he says this, Will spits up a motha-load of milk)

K: Yeah, about that (the spit-up)... is that normal?

Dr: Definitely normal! Obviously it's not an issue... he's getting plenty of milk.

K: Yes, he's a good eater.

Dr: So, how about you guys? Were you big babies?

J & K: (In unison) Yes!
(We look at each other and laugh)

Dr: Well, it looks like he's destined to be a no-neck-double-chin baby

J: (Without any hesitation) That definitely comes from her side of the family!
(So not cool, Justin!)

K: Ouch

Dr: Bursts into laughter with a look in his eye that can only be translated as-- Dude, you're sleeping on the couch tonight.

Anyway, come to find out, joke's on Justin! We went to his parents house after the appointment and his mom showed us a picture of him when he was three months old. I'm gonna let you look at it, and then you can tell me where you think Will's going to get his no-neck-double-chin from.

This is Justin at 3 months. The outfit he is wearing is 9 months.
Does he remind you of anyone...

...Maybe this guy?

So what if we have a no-neck-double-chin baby? There will just be more of him to love! And Justin, I think you were the cutest baby! Even if you were a little Jabba. I hope Will turns out just like you!

Foray into Fatherhood

I LOVE BEING A DAD!

It's hard to explain why I am enjoying fatherhood and all of the things it brings (mainly sleep deprivation), but I know that I was ready for this in my life.  I just feel more complete.  Will doesn't really do much yet, but I suppose that's normal for a 10-day-old.  :-)  Here are a few things I love about him so far:
  • His peaceful look while he sleeps in your arms
  • His funny faces when you pump his legs to get rid of gas
  • His instantly red face when he's not happy
  • His attempts to eat your cheek, finger, arm, or anything else that touches his face when he's hungry
  • His rockin' mullet -- business in the front, all party in the back
  • His comatose smiling when he has a full stomach
  • His one-eyed wink (always the left eye closed)
  • His squeals while eating -- he's either really hungry or he's already a breast man
  • His wounded animal sounds when he's sad that his binky fell out
  • His awesome ninja kicks when you try to change his diaper
I love everything about him!  And on Katt's first official Mother's Day, I am soooo incredibly grateful for all that she has done to bring him into our lives.  She is an amazing mom!  Will already recognizes her voice and her touch, and there's nobody he'd rather be with.  The boys in this family (including Milo) are unbelievably lucky to have her!  I love you, Katt!

Boy Oh Boy!

Alright, as promised, here are some pictures of Will. I'm gonna spare you my birth story because, frankly, I don't even want to be reminded of it; All I have to say is- (1) Contractions are a Bitch (pardon my french, but that's the truth)! (2) Epidurals are not for wussies but for the humble. (3) I didn't know my southern region could stretch/rip/swell like that (I'm not kidding; One nurse declared that it looked like a very swollen scrotum). (4) Nurses are angels sent from above. (5) Is there anything worse than daytime television? Yes!... Contractions!! (6) When asked if you want to watch your child's circumcision... think twice! (7) Justin has seen enough blood to equal 10 really bad horror movies, but never buckled his knees once. (8) Flavor ice chips = Manna from heaven. (9) Shouldn't there be an award for pushing out a 7'12 OP (posterior) baby? I mean, come on! Kids get awards for coloring pictures in supermarkets. Where's my certificate of achievement to hang on the fridge? (10) It was amazing! Every time I hold my little Will, my heart overfills with joy and love. He is worth every Tum taken for heartburn, every dreadful pound of weight gain, every stretch mark on my belly, every painful contraction, every bloody tear, and every sore dry crack on my engorged swollen nipples. I/We feel incredibly blessed to have him and I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

6:00 AM the day of delivery

Getting induced and oblivious to the journey that's before me. Sometimes ignorance isn't bliss.

Baby Will just minutes after birth- so perfect.

First family photo together

Will's first bath in hospital nursery

Will and his proud father (who bathed him)

So content

What pain?

Yep, we're gonna need an agent!

Loving motherhood

Aren't these the cutest things ever?

And this is why we call him "One Eyed Willy"

Practically perfect

Leaving hospital. The car seat is eating him whole... so tiny

They meet at last. Milo doesn't know what to make of him.

Fed, changed, and happy

This is his burp face. Classic.
